The Ambulance Chasers announced today that they have re-signed OF Curtis Granderson to a 5 year, 28.25 Million dollar pact which will keep the star in blue and yellow through the 2012 season. The contract also contains a team option for 2013. Granderson was visibly excited at the press conference announcing the deal. "This is the only team I want to play for... We play for championships every year here and I have two rings on my finger to prove it... That's the Ambulance Chaser way." A teary eyed Granderson hugged his teammates, members of the front office and even most of the press corps. Sales of Granderson jerseys reached record highs at the team store and on the team's website.
The Chasers also locked up another piece of their outfield, reaching a one year 7.5 million dollar deal with Mark Teahen. Teahen was presumed by many to have played his last game for the defending champs, but a last minute accord was reached. Teahen was delighted to be returning. "I couldn't be happier," the outfielder/first baseman remarked, "This is the team I wanted to play for and I enjoy playing in front of the best fans in fantasy sports." Teahen addressed a throng of Chasers fans later in the day, telling them that "Today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the Fantasy Earth."
Sadly, one member of the 2007 Fantasy World Champions will be testing the free agent market. Relief pitcher and Rhode Island native Dan Wheeler couldnt agree on a salary with the team. "We havent closed the door on bringing Danny back" said GM Al Skorupa, "Right now, the team and player are both exploring our options and seeing what the free agent market looks like." "I know he wants to be here and we sure would like him back" Skorupa added.
