OVERVIEW:
2007 Record: 97-106-17
Standings: 7th place
The RI Colts finished out of the playoffs for the first time ever, but the season was essentially a success after the team started terribly slow out of the gate. About a month into the season Tom had 5 wins, so it actually took a Herculean effort to make it up to 7th place.

This team would cost around 91 million by my count.

NEEDS:
-Could improve in stolen bases
-Youth in the outfield
-Another relief pitcher. A second closer to pair with Nathan could help a lot
STRENGTHS:
-Tons of pitching... young pitching... good, young pitching
-Erik Bedard is an Ace
-Lots of good young offensive players
-Lots of money to spend on few needs
WEAKNESSES:
-Coco Crisp? Really?
-Some youth/injury question marks in the rotation, but theyre cheap
-What if Manny and Jermaine Dye dont bounce back?
-The corpse formally known as Richie Sexson
PREDICTION:
The RI Colts will be returning to the playoffs in 2008. They will likely be a bye, but there are some weaknesses here. Right now I have them down as the 2 seed.
FARM SYSTEM:
Deep, strong farm system that has already produced a good deal of major league help. Mcgowan, Lind and Fields are three good major leaguer players right now. Aybar and Harris could both be starters. After the transition guys the system is still strong, but not super deep. Jeff Clement and Reid Brignac would be the stars of three or four other farms systems. Lofgren, Manship, Marquez, Purcey and Penn could all help at some point. With the 4th pick in the 1st round he should add another stud.
